HOUSE OF HACKNEY X ALEX MERRY
Welcome the wild into your home with our capsule of irreverent cushions created in partnership with British artist and folklorist Alex Merry.
We all have a place within Nature’s story, and these three characterful pillows serve as a beautiful reminder.
“For this collection I drew on my love of British folklore... its strange creatures, rituals and traditions, and the sense that magic can be found just beneath the surface of everyday life.” Alex Merry
MAGIC & MISCHIEF
Known for her whimsical illustrations and dream-like paintings, artist and founder of female folk-dancing group Boss Morris, Alex Merry, has brought her distinctive hand and playful imagination to three wild and wonderful creatures from the British forest.
For those ‘Boar to be Wild’, there’s the savagely suave hog, who helps cultivate the forest floor, carrying his banner across a wooded meadow. For the night-dwellers, the eco-system balancing bat takes flight across a moonlit sky. And for those so inclined, Nature’s great engineer celebrates ‘Beaver Fever’ amidst her twilight stream. Each brought to life through Alex’s original paintings.
At the heart of the collection is a celebration of human creativity. In an age when images, words and even opinions can be generated at the click of a button, this partnership explores the magic that comes from the human hand.
WILD BY NATURE
Inspired by the natural world, not only in look, but in the very way it’s made, this collection is crafted from our pioneering new velvet, made with 100% regeneratively farmed cotton, grown using practices that restore biodiversity and leave the land healthier for future generations. Just like the mischievous creatures featured.
Each pillow is filled with sumptuously soft, fully traceable British wool, 25% (and counting) of which is regeneratively farmed, made in partnership with The Woolkeepers. You’ll find a QR code on your cushion, which tells you exactly where the wool came from.
Reflecting our belief that luxury should go deeper than the surface, this collection considers the living systems that support what we do.
